Though it was debated, it made a big impact on the outcome of the game and the series overall.

7.Russians Get Extra Time on the Net: In the 1972 Olympics, there was a good game going between the US and the Soviet Union. As a timeout was called by the Soviets, it appeared that there was only one second left on the clock. The ref however called that the play be reset and this meant that the Soviets were allowed more time on the clock. This allowed them to score and win the game and the gold medal—all because of a bad call.

Though he hit a two run homer, pine tar was found on the bat and the ref called him out. He debated this as it is a legal substance and he was ejected from the game.
